Lymm

Lymm is a civil parish and village in Borough of Warrington, UK that comprises the hamlets of, Statham, Rushgreen, Reddish, Oughtrington, Little Heatley, Heatley Heath, Heatley, Deansgreen, Church Green, Broomedge, and Booths Hill. During the census in 2011, its population was 12,350. Lynn was a Cheshire urban district from the year 1894 to the year 1974.

The village is divided between the Borough of Warrington’s Lymm North and the Lymm South ward, and Thelwall Ward. In the Lymm South, there are 2 councilors and the two of them are Conservative since the local elections in 2016, while Thelwall Ward and Lymm North has 3 councilors, and since the 2016 elections, they are all Liberal Democrats.

There’s also a 12-member Parish Council of Lymm. Since the elections in 2016, they’ve got 7 Liberal Democrats, 3 Conservatives, and 2 independent councilors.

Lymm has got a twin, which is Meung-Sur-Loire. The village center of Lymm is known for the historic buildings in it; they’re all listed or unlisted. They include the former town hall of the French-style terracotta, Oughtrington Hall and Lodge, St Peter’s Church, and Lymm Hall (the former residence of the Domville family). Although we also have Foxley Hall, which is owned by the Carlise Family, it isn’t standing anymore.

A good example of Gothic Revival Architecture is St Peter, Oughtrington. In the middle of the 1800s, St Mary’s Church in Lymm was in a state that it can’t be prepared, that’s the reason the Leigh family told John Dobson, who is a Newcastle architect, to rebuild it.

They then raised the 1521 tower, but because they needed more stonework made, they rebuilt the tower in 1887.

The Heritage Centre of Lymm, that’s opened in mid-2017, is located at the village center in Leigh Street. It houses exhibitions that have to do with libel history and also activities for visitors and schools.
