Glazebury is a civil parish situated in Warrington, England. At the census that was conducted in 2001, the total population of people living within this area was 8,534.
According to history, Culcheth was part of the Lancashire area and had a dense woodland area until the Norman conquest, which is where the village got its name “narrow wood.” from.
The discovery of Bronze Age pottery at Croft revealed that people lived in the place 4 thousand years ago. When it comes to shaping the fortunes of the village, an important role was played by the Culcheth family.
Prior to the Civil War, Glazebury was a portion of Culcheth and was called Hurst, because of Hurst Hall. This was where the Holcroft family sat before it was inhabited by the Adamsons in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In England and Wales Greater Medieval Houses, Anthony Emery made a comment on the four-bay hall of the Hurst hall; even though they demolished almost all the medieval structures in 1975, it’s a place where the garden center is located.
The name of the village isn’t usual, as the suffix, “bury” whenever used for an English place usually denotes a fortified area.
The Civil War combatants in the seventeenth century were buried in a road that was then known as the Bury Lane (now a portion of Warrington Road), and they believe Glazebury to have hither its name from a combo of Glaze Brook and the word bury.
In the village, there’s a cricket club, primary school, and parish church amongst other excellent facilities, alongside it housing Bents Garden Centre. There are more Pubs and shops in Glazebury. It’s also got a couple of walks around the village to Crow Wood and Windy Bank Wood.
