Dallam is one of the suburb districts of Warrington. It was formerly in Lancashire but after reorganisation of Local government in 1974, It became part of Cheshire . It is smaller in size than most districts of Warrington though Bewsey, its neighbour is slightly larger. Dallam is famous for its railway station which was opened in 1831. The railway connects to both Liverpool and Manchester at the Newton Junction (now known as ‘Earlestown’).
The Dallam railway was established by some residents of Warrington who saw the potential that lay there. It is housed on the Eastside of Tannes lane which houses the two – storey building built for booking and ticket purchases. This subsequently brought about the conveying of Liverpool coaches to Warrington.
The construction of the Dallam railway line was quite instrumental as the community was a rural area depending solely on agriculture. However, after the railway construction, it brought about rapid development to the village. Thus, the Grand Junction Railway (GJR) and L & M companies opened their offices at Dallam in their bid to construct a railway to Birmingham.
As a result of the influx of passengers while en-route Liverpool, Dallam became a relaxation spot as it saw the opening of several motels and pubs, chief of them was ‘Three Pigeons Pub’.
Dallam has a sizable population though its housing estate is provided by the Housing Council. It also has two churches; Roman Catholic Church and Methodist church. Dallam also boasts of a community centre where its residents can always visit to have fun.
As regards Education, Dallam has one primary school; Dallam Community Primary school though most of its residents also attend the neighbouring Bewsey Lodge Primary school and St. Gregory R. C School, Bewsey.
Its major means of transportation is through roads and railways. Its railway is connected to Liverpool while its buses ply the route of Bewsey along Warrington Town center.
